On May 25, Nanzhang county government and Hubei Wendong Group signed a contract on a 1.05 billion yuan ($165,855,816) investment project for a cultural and ecological park called “Civilized East” at the Hubei Private Enterprise Meeting held in Wuchang.

The park was designed with a total area of 50 square kilometers and 1.05 billion yuan. In Hansan, Baihechuang, Huangjiapo and another two villages of Nanzhang county, six main functional zones were planned to be completed in six years. This includes a science zone, an organic food plantation zone, an eco-aquaculture park, a cultivation of wood fruit zone, a leisure zone and an endowment base for the aged. In 2011 the layout of the park was designed by an expert team, consisting of 12 famous academics from the China Agricultural University, CFOAM and other Chinese agricultural organizations. Last spring, the Wendong Group launched the early construction of the project.

So far, the Longdong and Tiandong Hansan tourist attraction are in the building process and mineral water containing selenium is working to achieve Hubei QS certification. Also, 26 kinds of branded organic food including rice, corn and mushrooms were registered in State Administration of Industry and Commerce of PRC, and 213 hectares of organic fields have taken shape.
