A "Mongolian dialectological map" project supported by the National Social Science Foundation was launched at Inner Mongolia University, in the city of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, on April 26.

The project, led by Professor Sen Ge of the university's School of Mongolian Studies, aims to show the main characteristics of different dialects of Mongolian, the boundaries between different dialects, and the distribution of related linguistic phenomena in the form of a map.

The innovative research project is the first of its kind to study Mongolian dialects in this way. The study fills a blank in the Mongolian dialect research field, and at the same time plays a positive role in promoting the overall level of Mongolian language study.

The Mongolian Research Center of Inner Mongolia University, set up by the Ministry of Education, is the only national-level humanities and social sciences research base in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
