The first LOFT innovation life week kicked off at the Loft Industrial Design Park in Taicang, Jiangsu province, on May 23.

The week-long event focused on exhibitions featuring creative products. Among the products on display was a self-watering flowerpot, which attracted attention from visitors. The flowerpot featured a self-watering system that detects the soil moisture with a sensor in the soil. In case of low soil humidity, the system will water the flowers accordingly using its automatic system.

Other innovative products included an anti-scalding water bottle and an intelligent wheelchair. Wu Meng, a staff member of the industrial design park, said, "Many people may think science and technology is enigmatic but it is actually a part of people's daily life." "The event aims to promote the relevance of science and technology in people's everyday lives and stimulate an interest in science among the public, especially among young people," she added.

Aside from featuring a variety of innovative products, the event also includes cycling, handcraft making, painting, photographing and parent-child reading, to encourage a low-carbon lifestyle and a close relationship between parents and children.
