The Jilin provincial industrial check reached the city of Jilin, an important part of the Changchun-Jilin-Tumen economic belt and a hub for Northeast China, on June 12, where the focus is on industrial innovation and infrastructure improvements.

The city wants to attract 105 billion yuan ($17 billion) in investment this year for developing its leading industries – petrochemicals, automobiles, metallurgy, and agriculture - and its emerging industries – new materials, equipment manufacturing, e-messaging, and biopharmaceuticals.

The team of inspectors, led by Bayinchaolu, the provincial Party head, visited automobile companies, a recreation and sports center under construction, a service sector zone, old industrial areas, an aviation industry park, and a new carbon fiber factory, part of a growing industry. Team members said the province and the city government will both support carbon fiber applications for cars, smart power grids, rail transportation, aviation, sports facilities and buildings.

In the service sector, the city is paying more attention to its connection with trade, business, logistics, culture, and tourism and is pushing it to go online for business. It is also engaged in large-scale reconstruction of old industrial areas and giving them a green focus to improve livelihoods, which is what the new recreation and sports center is intended to do. Upon completion, it will be host the 24th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival in September, an annual Chinese film event. The city's aviation industry is also looking at a larger layout that combines airports, aircraft maintenance, and pilot training.
