Foreign volunteers in NE China helping manage the traffic

When the city of Hunchun, Jilin province decided to start a publicity campaign for traffic safety, five foreign workers got involved, working with traffic police at intersections and attracted the attention of passers-by at on crossroads, on July 21, a local website reports, on July 22.

The traffic campaign was meant to encourage people to cooperate with traffic police especially in dealing with traffic and for a more civilized city.

The foreigners taking part have different jobs and were mainly Russian, with one Briton and, when asked why they got involved, said they feel like home in the city and wanted to repay it with their own contribution.

"I am happy to experience the work of traffic police in China and I have determined to do more work for the city in the future", said Sasha, one of the Russian volunteers.
