When the city of Changchun, Jilin province hosted the 1st Jilin and Russia Far East Economic Cooperation Roundtable Conference on Aug 31, it attracted around 50 people from academia, politics, and business from across China and the world.

Gao Fuping, a standing committee of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, who is also the ministry of the provincial publicizing department, made a speech of welcome at the conference.

Chairman of China-Russia Friendship Association in Russia's seaside border area, who is also the director of the Russian Science Academy's research center on history, archaeology and ethnology of far east section; and Li Yongquan, Standing Vice President of Chinese Association for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies and the head of research center on East European and Central Asian studies in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences made their keynote speeches on the conference.
