A campaign to promote public awareness about preserving the Old Town of Lijiang will be held at Yuhe Square in Lijiang on June 12,which is the fifth annual China National Cultural Heritage Day.
The organizer is the protection agency of the Old Town of Lijiang, a UNESCO-listed world cultural heritage site in South China's Yunnan province.
Tables staffed with experts will respond to questions from the public about cultural heritage protection. Special brochures describing the fifth China National Cultural Heritage Day also will be provided.
Cultural Heritage Day this year is themed as "Everyone has a part to play in the protection of intangible cultural heritage."
The second Saturday of June was first declared China's National Cultural Heritage Day in 2006 by the State Council to strengthen protection of the country's cultural heritage.
