Flower Avenue in Qingdao Expo

Peonies and Chinese herbaceous peonies were planted at the entrance to the central axis which aims to highlight the Chinese psyche.

The Flower Avenue of the 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition was designed by Niek Roozen, a famous Dutch horticultural designer.

The ecosystem was a prime consideration in trhe arrangement of the flowers.

Four features were applied in its design. Firstly, peonies and Chinese herbaceous peonies were planted at the entrance to the central axis which aims to highlight the Chinese psyche. Secondly, a gradient ramp is used in the flower distribution, which corresponds with the international exhibition's design. Thirdly, the choice of flower varieties follows a beautiful, economical and scientific rule. Fourthly, the ecosystem was a prime consideration in trhe arrangement of the flowers.

The Flower Avenue of the 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition was designed by Niek Roozen.

As summer approaches, flowers need to be changed into new varieties to match the changes in the weather. In order not to impact on visitors, all the transplanting is done at night. In the morning, visitors can then enjoy the most beautiful and fresh flowers. The work, which lasted for 10 nights, has already been finished.

On June 5, another change of flowers is due and at the end of August, new flowers will yet again be planted for the coming of autumn. A different seasons, visitors can appreciate different kinds of flowers at the Expo.
