A delegation from Singapore's Ascendas Pte Ltd visited Qingdao city recently and had talks with local officials on issues concerning a tech park project.

A delegation from Singapore's Ascendas Pte Ltd visited Qingdao city recently and had talks with local officials on issues concerning a tech park project.

Qingdao's Mayor, Zhang Xinqi, met with the guests on June 17.

Zhang said that Qingdao has been striving to develop an innovative economy, as well as an innovative city, in recent years.

The city is speeding up its industrial transformation and upgrading, and has entered a new phase of fast development, presenting more opportunities for Singaporean companies eyeing investments in Qingdao, he said.

Last October, during a visit to Singapore, the Qingdao delegation and the Ascendas Group had in-depth discussions about developing the Qingdao High-tech Park and promoting technological innovations.

The municipal government attaches great importance to the project and hopes to further cooperate with Ascendas in more fields.

Ascendas Chairman Teh Kok Peng said Qingdao has a huge potential for further development and that he is confident about the city's investment environment as well as future cooperation with the city.

The Ascendas delegation also had talks with Qingdao's Licang District on a comprehensive business park project.

Ascendas is Asia's leading provider of business space solutions and is well-known for developing industrial and services parks, with flagship projects like the International Tech Park, Bangalore in India. It has developed three tech parks in Dalian, Hangzhou and Suzhou in China, while the fourth one, located in Guangzhou, is still under construction.
