Qingdao Shinan District government officials and volunteers pose for a group during the launch ceremony of the "Qingdao-in-Palm" Volunteer Group.

A volunteer group named after a local new media group Qingdao-in-Palm, was officially set up on June 25 in Shinan District of Qingdao.

The group has over 300 permanent members and they will make efforts in reducing poverty, helping elders, supporting poor students and providing funds for patients in a serious condition.

During recent years, Qingdao Shinan District government has been promoting a volunteer service concept of "room service". A great number of volunteers have been organized to serve in communities and residents’ houses.
