Qualification authority set up for Xinjiang oil companies

A specialized institution to oversee the qualification of petroleum enterprises in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region was established in oil city Karamay on Nov 26, the Karamay Daily reported.

The institution, called Xinjiang Qualification Authority for Petroleum Engineering Technology and Service Enterprises, will be responsible for the examination, accreditation and supervision of all the enterprises in oil service industry in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Bi Kaichun, vice-director of Xinjiang Economy and Information Technology Commission, said that the foundation of the qualification authority was a significant move to raise the service quality of all the local oil companies to international standards, in order to increase their competitiveness in global markets.

Wang Wumin, director of Xinjiang Oil Management Office, and Xu Jianhui, vice-mayor of Karamay, were also present at the ceremony.
