Comment on "China's fastest train rolls off production line" (China Daily, May 28)

I am worried over the safety of China's fastest train. If a 380-km/h train derails, the destruction and death toll will be equal to (or exceed) an A380 Airbus crash.

And if an accident occurs in a densely populated area, many people living nearby, too, will pay with their lives. The destruction will be immense. Such fears make the prospect of high-speed train travel a little less attractive.
