After the Internet was flooded with some girls' views that they would rather cry in a BMW than laugh on a bicycle, the simple but warm love story of a young man and his girlfriend enjoying a romantic ride on a bicycle in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, has given many netizens cause for celebration, says an article on people.com.cn. Excerpts:
Many netizens have gone gaga over the "bicycle love", as opposed to the importance today's young women attach to expensive cars and rich suitors, but what the Nanjing couple should be praised for is their belief in true love. Their story shows that life is worth more than expensive cars and bungalows, and all the other trappings that money ensures.
The Nanjing couple have shown that life can be equally, if not more, beautiful even without "big money". They have shown that the most important thing in life is love.
We do need money to survive, but money is not the be all and end all of a perfect life. Unfortunately, some people see money as the panacea of all of life's ills and, hence, they think it is the deciding factor in an even otherwise perfect man-woman relationship. This has made many youngsters forget the importance of true love so much so that they cannot even imagine taking a bicycle ride.
Love means sharing joy and pain. True love is what the Nanjing couple have celebrated. And hopefully, more youngsters will learn to value the importance of true love.
