Treasures found in quake rubble
Paramilitary policemen stand hand-in-hand around nine gold Buddha statues and other valuables dug out from the rubble after the devastating 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Yushu county, Northwest China’s Qinghai province, April 17, 2010. Three locals came to the police, asking for help in digging out their valuables in the ruins of a three-story building. In two hours, nine gold Buddha statues, dozens of gold candlesticks, a safe and a computer were found and handed over to local police officers. Further investigation was required to determine the identity of the owner. [Photo/CFP]
