Hot sand treatment lures tourists to Xinjiang
A doctor checks the heart of a tourist as she receives traditional hot sand treatment in Turpan of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on June 28, 2010. Dubbed the "sweltering landmass", the Turpan region  sees the annual average temperature hit between 38 and 42 centigrade from June to August, providing good conditions for sand treatment for patients with arthritis and joint problems. It is believed the treatment works because it combines sun bathing with magnet and massage. [Photo/Asianewsphoto]
