Massive electricity transfer quenches power thirst

The 750-kilovolt power transformer at the Wubei substation in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is in operation, July 27, 2011. The speed of electricity transmission from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has increased this year with the accumulated current sent to Northwest China’s power grid amounting to 2.01 billion kW/h, the equivalent of the energy produced by burning 1 million tons of raw coal.
