The 74.1-kilometer railway project, with a total investment of 2.3 billion yuan ($360 million), was recently found to have illegally contracted a fake company and a couple of laymen who barely know anything of building bridges. The bridge pier, which was supposed to be made of concrete, was stuffed with stone blocks, posing a serious safety threat, Xinhua reported. The construction has been closed down and an investigation has been launched. [Photo/Xinhua]
