Staying fit through pole dancing

Wang, a former medical student at the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, quit school in 2001 and then started to study pole dancing. She regards the activity as a healthy form of exercise. With support from her family, Wang has overcome public misunderstanding of pole dancing, which is better known as a form of stripping. After almost 11 years, she has established herself as a respected pole dancer in Chongqing. Now Wang operates a studio to train pole dancing teachers for fitness clubs. Wang hopes that more people can abandon their bias toward pole dancing and look at it as a fitness choice. A half-hour of pole dancing is equal to jogging 10 kilometers, she said.[Photo/CFP]
