Toddlers told to bring own school desk

Three-year-old Wang Ziqi makes his journey for the first day of preschool in Changchong village, Macheng city in Central China's Hubei province, Sept 1, 2012. Following little Wang are his sister and grandmother carrying the desk and chair he will use to study. Due to a shortage of desks and chairs, students in Nangang and Changchong villages of Shunhe town in Hubei province have been asked to bring their own school furniture. The schools in Shunhe town have a total of 5,000 students, but there are only 2,000 desk and chairs available. The other 3,000 have been provided by the families of students.[Photo/CFP]
