From college teacher to maternity matron

Li Dabin trains with a toy baby on Dec 1, 2012. Li, a former college teacher with a master's degree, gave up his former job and decided to become a maternity matron. He attends training in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province and has set up his own domestic service company in Kunming, Yunnan province. A maternity matron encompasses the role of nanny, nurse, cook and pre-school teacher and thus the salary can be more than 6,000 yuan ($963) in big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. During peaks in birthrates, the demand for the service usually exceeds supply. [Photo/Xinhua]
