Female environmentalist opens up

Gu Yunxiang, 39, breaks down when she recalled her experience as a combatant against deforestation in the foremost desert in Lingwu, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, Oct 11, 2013. Gu and her husband were hired to plant trees on 333 hectares of barren land 14 years ago, when she was a new mother of a 2-month-old baby girl. It turned out that they underestimated how hard the way ahead was. She said all her efforts would be worth it if the grown trees stand as a remind of what they did for the environment.
