The XGK-LD 1400 20-high cold rolling mill invented by Zhengzhou Top Rolling Technology Co has successfully hit the European market, according to Zhao Linzhen, general manager of the company, June 20.

On June 29th this year, Zhao was invited by the INTFOR Group in Romania to negotiate details of further cooperation between the two companies. A contract worth over 410 million dollars was signed during the meeting.

Cooperation between Zhengzhou Top Rolling and Romanian INTFOR can be traced back to 2007 when INFTOR, the biggest industrial production plant founded in 1921 in Romania, signed an 800 million dollar contract with Zhengzhou. INTFOR Group’s decision was carefully made after an investigation and evaluation of different companies worldwide was performed, and Zhengzhou Top Rolling Co was shown to have the most advanced technology at the time.

Romanian prime minister Emil Boc, together with Zheng Hongzhuan, the CEO of Zhengzhou Top Rolling Co, attended the launching ceremony of XGK-LD1400 on May 30 2009. Prime minister Boc spoke highly of Chinese steel rolling technology and expressed his confidence and hope for further cooperation. “I’m amazed at Chinese mills. And the friendship of the two countries has been elevated to a brand new level by this project,” Boc said.

Europe has historically been the home of modern rolling mills. According to Zheng, “The export of rolling mill from Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, to Romania, from where the Yellow river flows to the riverside of the Danube, is remarkable and memorable.”

Zhengzhou Top Rolling Co’s practice of “independent innovation” has created higher value-added home-grown technologies. And with imported Chinese technology, INTFOR has successfully created new jobs for nearly 1,000 people, becoming one of the few to survive the global financial crisis.
