Jiangsu's first benevolent society set up in Yangzhou

A benevolent society was established recently in Jiangdu District, Yangzhou City, the first charity of its kind in Jiangsu province, according to wenming.cn.

The group aims to implement the core values of humanitarian socialism by carrying out and promoting volunteering, fraternity, mutual-aid and progress, as well as fulfilling the founding principle of "being good and doing good with good intentions" to deliver a positive and progressive spirit across local communities.

Yan Zhanhong, who has volunteered and carried out good deeds for many years, led the formation of the society, with members including Wang Wenqing, winner of a national excellent volunteer award, Chen Peng, winner of a national model worker award, and Gu Chenkui, winner of national excellent teacher award.

The benevolent society was approved by the municipal civil affairs department after almost one-year of preparation.
