Daniel Radcliffe was once sent a rubber ear by a fan.

The actor, who has attracted legions of fans since landing the role of boy wizard Harry Potter, reveals some admirers give him unusual gifts to show their devotion.

He said: "One Japanese fan sent me a present - a plastic ear. It was rubbery and you were supposed to fold it up and hold it in your hand, then walk into a party and go, 'Oh my God, there's something wrong with my ear!' and let it unfold. Everyone thought it was weird - then I found out that it's a famous Japanese comedian's best joke!"

Daniel struggles to deal with the attention he receives when he visits Japan and admits he would rather sit at home watching sport than attend showbiz parties.

He explained to Britain's Zoo magazine: "I go there and it all goes mad, but that's not the real me. The real me sits in a darkened room for eight hours a day, in my underwear, watching the cricket with a big bowl of pasta - but that's not nearly so appealing to women!"

Daniel has also denied he ever had romantic feelings for his 'Harry Potter' co-star Emma Watson, but confesses spending his teenage years on the set of the hit franchise was sexually frustrating.

The 19-year-old star said: "I know people always like to say that we're dating, but it's just not happening. There's something really incestuous about the idea of it.

"Mind you, there was a period when we were the only boys and girls any of us knew. So, we were all unbelievably horny from about the third film to probably about the end of the fifth - then it all settled down. But God, for a few years..."
