NEW YORK--Marathon world-record holder Paula Radcliffe said her injured foot is healing "really well" and she will resume her normal training routine next week.

Radcliffe had surgery last month to remove a tumor composed of nerve tissue. She already has started running again, and still plans on competing in the 10,000 meters at the European Championships in August and running a marathon in the fall.

Whether it is in Chicago, New York or Berlin remains to be seen. Radcliffe, of Britain, also said her long-term goal is running in the marathon at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Winning an Olympic medal in the marathon has eluded Radcliffe. In Athens in 2004, she failed to finish after breaking down with stomach and leg problems.

"My long-term plans are for Beijing," she said. "I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize Beijing long-term."

Radcliffe was in town to present NYC Marathon race director Mary Wittenberg with her WISE award, given annually to outstanding women in the sports field. Wittenberg said she would love it if top American Deena Kastor and Radcliffe decide to run in New York in November. Radcliffe won the NYC Marathon in 2004 in a redemption race after Athens.

"This is a real moment we have in the sport with several very strong women led by Deena and Paula," Wittenberg said. "If we can make it happen in New York that would be great."
