The book, simply entitled 'Michael Schumacher', will catalogue Schumacher's rise from a bricklayer's son from the tiny city of Kerpen to the most successful driver in the history of the sport.

Author Sabine Kehm, a close friend, helps provide a glimpse into the much-guarded private life of the German renowned for his ruthless mentality.

The 37-year-old Schumacher had his 249th and final race on Sunday when he finished fourth in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Ferrari driver lost out on the title to Spain's Fernando Alonso but is still the most successful driver in history with seven world titles.

He won back-to-back titles with Benetton in 1994 and 1995 before collecting five crowns in a row with Ferrari from 2000 onwards.
