Ljubicic to quit Croatia's Davis Cup team

Ivan Ljubicic will retire from Davis Cup tennis after this year, the Croatian number one said on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Ljubicic, who helped Croatia to their Davis Cup triumph in 2005, saw his hopes of a second success dashed on Sunday when his straight-sets loss to Tommy Haas gave Germany a 3-1 winning lead in their world group first-round tie.

"I've won one Davis Cup but now I won't win another one," Ljubicic said at a news conference.

He has yet to decide whether to play in Croatia's world group relegation playoff later in the year.
