France will not have a Formula One grand prix next year because of logistical problems with the Magny-Cours circuit, the French sports daily L'Equipe reported on Thursday.
The French federation was not immediately available for comment.
If confirmed, it would be the first time since 1955 that the country has been absent from the Formula One calendar.
The newspaper said that the French federation (FFSA) had decided that the race could not take place in 2008 "in the current conditions".
The grand prix could then return in 2009, but not necessarily at Magny-Cours.
The reports said poor access to the circuit and insufficient accomodation were among the reasons for the move.
