Briton James Rossiter has joined Super Aguri as their Formula One test driver, the team said on Monday.

Honda-powered Super Aguri, who scored their first point in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix, said the 23-year-old Oxford-born driver would start work at the Le Castellet circuit in southern France on Tuesday.

Rossiter was part of Honda's young driver programme for two years before taking on a role as a Formula One test driver with that team in November last year.

"I hope that the relationship we build together over the coming year will help James develop into a competitive driver for the future of the sport," said Super Aguri boss and founder Aguri Suzuki in a statement.

Super Aguri's British race driver Anthony Davidson joined from Honda after a previous testing role at that team.
