BEIJING: Chinese Super League's Beijing Guoan soccer club on Wednesday announced that the South Korean coach Lee Jan-Soo was sent packing due to poor results.

Beijing Guoan, aiming to clinch the first ever domestic trophy after a series of heavyweight signings ahead of the season, pulled off a humiliating performance in Asia's Champions League and lost some key points in the domestic campaign.

With only seven rounds left this season, Beijing now collects 36 points and stands in the second place on goal difference.

Henan Jianye leads the league with 38 points. Changchun Yatai and Shandong Luneng also have 36 points apiece on the standings.

Lee, who won China's Football Association Cup in 2002 with Qingdao, brought Beijing to a second place finish in the 2006-07 season, but last year the team dropped to third.

Hong Yuanshou has been named to replace Lee, the club said on its website.
