Pakistan announces boxing squad for Asian Games

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) announced a 11-member national squad for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in South China's Guangzhou, local media reported on Thursday.

The team includes eight boxers and three officials. The players are undergoing training for the final preparation session to perform better in the Asian Games scheduled from Nov 12 to 27.

Two well-known boxers, Mohammad Wasim and Haroon Iqbal Khan, are also in the squad, who won bronze medals in their respective categories in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

The squad includes: Muhammad Wasim (49kg), Haroon Iqbal Khan (52kg), Niamatullah (56kg), Nawaz Dad (60kg), Amir Khan (64kg), Arshad Hussain (69kg), Nisar Khan (80kg), Mirwaiz Khan (91kg). Officials: Francisco Roldan (chief coach) Arshad Hussain ( assistant coach) and Waqar Maroof (manager).
