RIO DE JANEIRO - Immediately after Santos' 5-4 home loss to Flamengo on Wednesday in the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship, Elano openly complained to the media about the Santos' fans and their poor attitude.

After creating an early 3-0 advantage against Flamengo, Santos gave up the lead and lost 5-4 in the second half. The target of boos during the match and after the game ended, star midfielder and member of the Brazilian national team Elano, was not shy to show his dissatisfaction.

During the 2011 Copa America, Elano drove a penalty shot well over the goal against Paraguay in the overtime shootout that led to Brazil's elimination in the quarterfinals. On a free kick roughly 30 meters away from the goal in Wednesday's game against Flamengo, the player sent the ball exceedingly over the goal, resulting in a widespread roar of booing.

Elano complained that the fans at Santos were chasing him away from the club. He revealed that his player website was recently hacked and that his father was nearly kidnapped during a home invasion. Connecting fans' aggressive attitudes and the recent problems, Elano warned that if fans do not change their behavior he will leave the team.

In a demonstration of solidarity, Elano pleaded that fans give him time to find his groove on the field and promise that they will be compensated in the near future.
