Dog whipper apologizes to dog lovers after "human flesh search"

"A man, surnamed Wang, who whipped a stray dog, has apologized to dog lovers in front of a hotel where a protest was held after Wang's personal information was exposed on the Internet, in Urumqi, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on May 12, cnr.cn reported.

Wang reportedly drove his car to ring-fence a stray dog and beat it with an iron bar after it barked and terrified his toddler on May 11.

Thanks to an Internet-led witch-hunt or China's so-called "human flesh search engines", his telephone number, car number and home address were exposed online when his deed became known, and Wang's phone received more than 2,000 messages and 3,000 calls in 24 hours from "dog lovers". The angry crowds even looked for Wang around his house and company, and staged a protest in front of a hotel.

The dog, whose bones had fractured as a result of the beating, has been sent to an animal hospital and will be operated upon when it is in a stable condition.

Wang hopes the one who disclosed his personal information will apologize to him, and said he would sue him if he fails to do so.
