The new Chocolate Center of Excellence, located at Nestle's chocolate factory in Broc, a small town in western Switzerland, will be operational in the first half of 2009, the company said in a statement.

The center will employ 30 international chocolate-making professionals and Nestle will invest 20 million Swiss francs ( about US$19.5 million) in it, the company said.

"It will be the first R&D center worldwide entirely dedicated to premium and luxury chocolate," said Klaus Zimmermann, global head of Nestle's R&D and Product Technology Center.

"It will become the turntable for chocolate excellence. This center will be the place where we will translate the dreams and fantasies of our consumers into beautiful products," he said.
