Indonesia holds food exhibition, seminars

JAKARTA, Indonesia is holding a four-day food exhibition and seminars starting Thursday to support government food program of sustainable food supply.

Over 150 participants representing government, international agencies, industries, associations, cooperatives, academicians and banking sector were to show the latest innovations in the fields of agriculture, plantation, forestry, animal husbandry and marine.

The latest innovations include aspects of product and superior services, research and development program as well as education and technology. All of them are packed in an environmentally friendly perspective, local wisdom and sustainable way.

"The exhibition and national seminars conducted simultaneously are aimed to sharpen discourses and solutions related to what are put in our food resilience road map," said MS Hidayat, Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) in his opening speech at the event.

He said that KADIN puts its hope that activity series of its Feed the World program could provide supports to the government's food program that was finalized in the National Summit on October 2009.

"We believe that involvement of all stakeholders in a synergic and coordinated way will provide a feasible support toward sustainable food self-sufficient and to supply food for the world," said Hidayat.

The potential of food and energy crisis that could impact on economic and humanity crisis pushed countries to find new breakthroughs to keep their food resilience maintained.
