Earthquake hits off Honshu, Japan

HONG KONG - An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale occurred near east coast of Honshu, Japan at 0814 GMT on Sunday, according to a release by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The epicenter was initially determined to be at 37.8 degrees north south latitude and 141.6 degrees east longitude, about 83 kilometers southeast of Sendai, Japan.
