5.9-magnitude quake hits off east coast of Honshu

TOKYO - An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 18:53: 16 GMT on Monday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 8.00 km, was initially determined to be at 39.5454 degrees north latitude and 143.1898 degrees east longitude.
