On Aug 21, 2015, an armed man opened fire on passengers of a Thalys high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris, wounding three before being arrested.
On June 26, 2015, two men loyal to the Islamic State beheaded one man and rammed a car into the gas containers of a U.S. gas company in southeast France, triggering an explosion and injuring two others.
