Updated: 2009-01-06 12:03 Nuclear safety officials from China and the US have pledged to strengthen communication and cooperation in nuclear safety areas. At a forum kicked off in Beijing on January 8, 2008, they promised to share the experiences and fruits of nuclear safety supervision, and jointly create a safe environment for nuclear energy development. Li Ganjie is the Minister for National Nuclear Safety Administration. "The United States is one of the top countries in the world that enjoys high development of nuclear energy. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has lots of experience in supervision, evaluation, and enforcement of nuclear safety that we need to learn from." Dale Klein is president of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He said that the strong nuclear supervision capability is an important foundation for the use of nuclear power. |
