Canadian national softball team (I)(Chinadaily.com.cn)Updated: 2006-08-25 09:59
1) How do you get motivated to train each morning? Ali: I am motivated because I want to get better and be the best that I can be. And, I know that all my teammates are working just as hard. 2) What else beside your sport keeps life interesting? Ali: As a teacher, everyday is interesting because you never know what to expect from your students. I also enjoy being active, reading, playing musical instruments and spending time with friends and family. 3) What is your diet like when you train? What foods do you miss the most? Odie: As a team, we try to follow the 90/10 rule - 90% of the time we eat
healthy. We try to eat a balanced meal with at least 3 of the 4 food groups and
avoid as many fatty foods as possible. I definitely miss eating pizza and
desserts the most. 4) What did you want to be when you were a kid? When did you change your mind or decide to pursue it all the way to the Olympics? Odie: I think my first ambition was to be a nurse or flight attendant or
something. My first Olympics dreams were actually in 1984 when I was watching
swimming because I was a competitive swimmer at the time. I decided I wanted to
be a softball Olympian as soon as it was declared an Olympic sport.
Robin: When I was invited to the selection camp for the Senior National Team
from the regional camp. It was one of the most exciting moments in my
life. 6) How would you like to be remembered? Robin: A respectful competitor, good teammate, hard worker and good person. 7) What is your own personal greatest achievement? Angela: Representing Canada at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Angela: My family because they have supported me throughout my career and
they are always there for me. Noemie: Before going to bed, I like to listen to calm music because it helps
me relax. When I train, I listen to music that motivates me and gets me
going.
11) How do you feel about them being in Beijing? Erin C: I'm excited because I know they will put on a great show. Noemie: When I compete, I like going to war with teammates that don't fear
anything, that are goal oriented, and never quit working. I like to train with
athletes that are able to push me to get better and find new limits.
14) Do you read a lot? What book can you relate to the most? Lauren: Yes, I love to read. I'm not sure which book I relate to the most,
but a couple of my favourite books are 'Bringing Down the House' and
'Freakanomics'. Kaila: Coach Sippel is my role model. Through her actions everyday she
inspires me to bring my best self to the park and be a champion. Kaila: No I wouldn't consider myself "the best". There's always someone
better than me - training hard to beat "the best" is why I love to
compete.
Sheena: No, softball is fun because it's a team sport. It would be boring by
myself. Sheena: My height. |
