Turkish fighters attack PKK targets in Iraq

ANKARA -- Twenty Turkish fighter jets have launched an aerial attack against around 50 targets of the outlawed Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, Turkish media reported Thursday.

The targets were located in the Hakurk and Zap regions, local newspaper Hurriyet Daily News reported on its website, citing Turkey's private channel NTV.

The operation came a day after Turkish ambassador to Iraq Murat Ozcelik met President Masoud Barzani of the Kurdish Regional Government in northern Iraq on Tuesday, according to the report.
