Employees in the financial sector receive 30,603 yuan in average in the first half of this year, twice the nation's mean level, and higher than all other industries.

Employees in the accommodation and catering industry earn the least, according to the NBS. They averagely got 9,885 yuan in salaries during the first half of this year, just 67.5 percent of the country's average level. That is less than one third of the average salary in the financial industry.

China's consumer price index, a measurement of inflation, fell 1.1 percent from last year's levels during the first half of this year, the NBS said previously.

Income of the self-employed was not included in the NBS's calculations. The salaries are pre-tax, including employees' personal insurance accounts and pension funds.
