Daming Palace, a documentary about the Tang Dynasty will be shown on September 9 at the New York city headquarters of the United Nations. It will be the first Chinese film to be screened at the UN.
The movie tells the story behind the Daming Palace during the Tang Dynasty. The director mixes 300 years of historical background, with juicy stories of life in the royal palace to create the documentary.
Jin Tiemu, director of Daming Palace also filmed the Yuan-Ming Yuan Imperial Garden which received praise from many critics in the industry.
Lai Tangli who is vice president of the American Chinese Import and Export Association said, "Such an epic documentary is very important to Chinese-Americans, not just a narrative of the Daming Palace, but also for presenting a general view of our culture," he said.
Officials from Daming Palace Relic Site Region Preservation and Reconstruction Project office in Xi'an say they hope the film will increase tourism in the city.
Before the viewing in New York, the film will be released on September 3 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
