People.com.cn, website sponsored by the Communist Party of China newspaper People's Daily, created a special report on landmark moments over the last 60 years.

QQ.com, a popular commercial website, promoted a special report titled "the Legend of China," displaying progress in political, economic and cultural sectors as well as in the daily life.

About 60 websites, organized by the State Council Information Office, jointly sponsored an online contest of multi-media works named "A Day in China" on September 19. The works were required to record what happened within 24 hours on September 19.

Internet users have submitted about 870,000 pieces of art works, including stories, photos, animation and video programs, said an office spokesman.

They attracted about 360 million views and 1.8 million posts, the spokesman said.

"Sixty years are considered a full circle. I wish our motherland prosperity and our people happiness and security," said a message posted by "Gracefully Lonely."
