Netizens from across the world applauded China Thursday for a spectacular ceremony in downtown Beijing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
"They are lovely, gigantically, magnificently, marvelously great events and achievements or showcase," said an Australia-based reader who called himself Hahaha in a comment on a China Daily website story.
"After 169 years of Western Occupation and Japanese humiliation, you have overcome all difficulties and come to a glorious victory today. You deserve a big salute from all mankind on earth. Look forward to the glorious future the next 100 years. Long Live China," the reader wrote.
Canadian netizen Roger T expressed congratulations for what China has achieved in the past 60 years. "Great achievement and far leap in such a short time. China has become the dominance on the world stage. China is grand in every way imaged! Congratulations," Roger wrote.
Singapore-based netizen Kenneth Patrick Chiu shared the same feeling. "We the citizens of the world stand together to admire U for all your achievements and hope and wish U all the very best for the next 1,000 years of achievements."
"We also wish that China in achieving these great victories and more to come will be a force for good in peace and prosperity and harmony for the rest of the world," he wrote in a comment on the website of China Daily.
Poland-based reader Michael also sent congratulations for China's "amazing achievement of bringing hundreds millions of people out of poverty."
"Your way of economic growth, while still having some flaws, has definitely stood the test of time and proven itself to be strong and reliable."
He went on to thank China for helping the world to get out of the worst economic recession in more than half a century. "We, the entire world, owe you gratitude for your commitment to help cushion the economic depression we all face today."
"I want to thank You, People of China, for your peaceful rise and your reasonable foreign policy, which makes you one of the pillars of the modern world," he wrote.
Zimbabwe reader Kudakwashe Machawira joined the Chinese in the celebrations for the 60th PRC anniversary.
"The people of China, you are not alone in this celebration. In Africa, we are together with you," he wrote in a message to China Daily.
He spoke highly of what China has done for Africa and his own country. "The birth of China was the light for the independence of many African states, including my country Zimbabwe. We fought the colonialists and won because of the principles which were adopted by our leaders from the Communist Party of China (CPC)."
"The great nation is still supporting us today in both political and economic issues. China always saves the life of small nations from the harsh policies of powerful nations," he said.
"Recently, President Hu Jintao encouraged the developed countries to assist developing countries when he addressed the United Nations General Assembly," according to him.
"China has a true heart of friendship," he said. "In times of suffering, China provides much-needed support. In times of war, China brings peace and in times of peace, she brings development."
