网络文艺生态治理(wǎngluò wényì shēngtài zhìlǐ): Regulate online literature and shows

China Daily | Updated: 2017-06-21 07:43

With the development of the internet, the popularity of online literature and dramas, as well as livestreaming, is rapidly growing. However, some online entertainment programs resort to vulgarity in pursuit of high audience ratings, which contaminates cyberspace and has a negative social influence.

In recent years the authorities have made progress in enhancing their supervision of online entertainment programs and seriously dealt with some unqualified internet audio and video content providers, which has helped build a good online ecological environment.

The Cyberspace Security Law, which officially came into effect on June 1, is the fundamental guarantee for the healthy development of the online environment.

The authorities will better regulate internet audio and video content to ensure it does not breach the nation's laws and regulations. A comprehensive online supervisory system should be established for this purpose, and local supervision and law enforcement authorities should shoulder their responsibilities to safeguard the online environment by strictly implementing the laws and regulations.

The internet is a cultural platform as well as a commercial platform. Besides pursuing profits, internet enterprises should be aware of their social responsibilities as cultural enterprises.

In addition, the internet industry association should play a significant role in purifying the content of online literature and shows.
