At a news conference for the meeting of the BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi introduced the concept of "BRICS plus".
He said, BRICS plus refers to BRICS further enhancing its connections, interaction, dialogue and cooperation with other developing countries and emerging market economies, in order to better reflect the common ground and collective will of the developing countries through BRICS cooperation.
The BRICS members-Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa-are all developing countries and emerging market economies with significant influence and they should work together to better safeguard the interests of all developing countries and emerging market economies and give them a greater voice in world affairs.
Several dialogues have been held between the leaders of the BRICS countries and the leaders of other developing countries and emerging market economies at past BRICS leaders' meetings.
This arrangement has further enhanced the cooperation between the BRICS countries and other developing countries and emerging market economies.
This year marks the beginning of the second decade of BRICS cooperation, and Wang said the BRICS cooperation has shown strong vitality during the past 10 years.
A media note released for the meeting said that the ministers commended the fruitful cooperation forged in the past and look forward to continued and positive cooperation among the BRICS members.
