Amazon is ramping up resources in China to tap into China's cloud computing market with its local partner establishing nine data centers across the country to improve services.
Amazon's cloud service platform, Amazon Web Service (AWS) signed a deal with Beijing Sinnet Technology Co (Sinnet) last year to better serve local enterprises.
AWS mainly offers technical support while Sinnet is responsible for operations and management including investing in and constructing IT infrastructure.
The data centers, established by Sinnet in Beijing, Shanghai and Hebei Province, have been used to provide Chinese enterprises with cloud related services. Sinnet is also planning to build a bigger data center in Beijing.
AWS recently launched several new services including an loT platform, ECS container service and NAT Gateway Service for NetWare in China which will help improve the efficiency of the system.
AWS China managing director Alex Yung said: "The public cloud became a new normal in the IT industry. We are delighted to see that is in sync with the global market. The Chinese cloud market has developed at an extremely-high speed in recent years. "
Over the past year, AWS has cooperated with Sinnet to help Chinese software developers and enterprises expand their businesses through the cloud service.
More than 100 big Chinese companies, SOEs and start-ups, including electrical appliance manufacturer Midea Group, Mengniu Diary Group and smartphone maker Xiaomi have used AWS cloud services.
Real estate tech company Lianjia has also connected more than 100,000 real estate agents and customers through the AWS cloud, making their search engine much easier, faster and more enjoyable for customers to use.
"Combined with the robust, scalable and secure technology offered by AWS Cloud, the expertise of these national and global partners are helping thousands of Chinese companies transform quickly, effectively and successfully, as they explore the amazing possibilities of the digital era," Werner Vogels, Amazon's chief technology officer, said.
Noting the future of AWS cloud services in China, Sinnet CEO Yang Yuhang said that they will accelerate more cooperation with AWS to enrich services in China, especially in the area of mixed cloud, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
