The fifth "China Day in Seoul" was held at City Hall Square in Seoul, South Korea on Oct 22. After delivering speeches, Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Qiu Guohong and Mayor of Seoul Park Won-soon added the finishing touches to respective dancing lions, marking the beginning of the activity.

"China Day in Seoul" was initiated by the Chinese embassy in South Korea, the Chinese Cultural Center in Seoul and the Seoul municipal government in 2013. Apart from various exhibitions, eight performing groups brought a feast of visual enjoyment to audiences.

In addition, a promotional activity of sharing bicycles to advance the concepts of environmental protection and a low-carbon lifestyle was a highlight of the "China Day in Seoul".

Qiu stressed that "China Day in Seoul" offered an important channel for people in South Korea to know and understand China better. "The year 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea," Qiu said. "'China Day in Seoul' is expected to be a highlight in cultural exchange between our two countries, making greater contributions to common prosperity and closer relationship."

Park first extended greetings to guests and audiences in Chinese. He acknowledged that "China Day" served as the bridge between two peoples and hoped Seoul, capital of South Korea, could do its part to promote bilateral exchange.
