A unique exhibition "Tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty in Luoyang, China" kicked off in Lublin, eastern Poland on Saturday.

This is a result of the cooperation between Polish Lublin Voivodeship and Henan province in Central China.

"The 70 pieces of tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty from Luoyang exhibited today have gone through time and space and finally arrived in Poland, to tell the local people the amazing history of the Silk Road", said Tian Kai, head of the Department of Culture of Henan province, during the opening ceremony held on Friday.

The exceptional ceramic figurines and utensils from Luoyang, a prefecture-level city in Henan province, shown to the Polish audience would help them get closer to the great culture of ancient China.

The three-colored, or "Sancai", pottery is a famous type of Chinese pottery, made with the use of glaze. Among the artifacts, there are figures of people, animals and beasts reminiscent of the legendary Chinese dragons, dated back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Such events help promote the knowledge about China. Cai Lian, a cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Poland, told Xinhua reporters: "In recent years, the exchange activities in the cultural field between China and Poland have been very abundant ... the two sides have further promoted mutual understanding through folk customs and cultural relics exhibitions."

This is the first time the Tang Dynasty objects are shown in Poland. The exhibition is open to the public from Dec 16 to March 10, 2018 in Hieronim Lopacinski Voivodeship Public Library in Lublin.

Lublin and Henan have established friendly cooperation relations since 2008.
